Mastering is the process of optimizing volume levels, EQ, dynamic range, and imaging of a stereo mix for professional duplication and to ensure consistent listening in a multitude of environments. It also includes adding digital silence between tracks and preparing the proper coding for the factory.

- The mastered CD and PQ codes are generated with Roxio JAM and are factory ready.

Mastering is a very important step in all professional CD production and should never be overlooked. However, should also not be used as a tool to try and fix a poor mix. Repairs to a stereo mix can be done to a certain extent, but there is no substitute for a good mix from which to master. (Just like picking the correct microphone!)
